COVID Information

COVID-19 Policy

To our valued Sporting Smiles families, we would like to update you on the precautions we are continuing to take to address the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

As part of your health care team, we are monitoring changes and updated guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in our practice, interactions, and work environment to ensure patient and team safety. Since information is updated regularly, we recommend checking the latest recommendations each day.

Your number one line of safety is an educated and dedicated team. We have met with our entire staff to discuss protocols for keeping ourselves and patients safe, including symptoms to look for and what to do in the event of exposure.

What are we doing to keep you and your family safe? 

  • Each team member is screened for symptoms and deemed medically fir each day before commencement of work.

  • All team members are encouraged to wear surgical masks, amongst other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the entire duration of the work day. If a team member exits the office, they must wash their hands with soap and hot water prior to doing anything else. 

  • Our team continues to have frequent meetings to ensure we are adhering to current guidelines, and doing everything possible to keep your families and ourselves safe.

  • We have staff rostered for cleaning each part of our dental office on a regular basis; which includes exam rooms, the reception area, and all high-touch points such as door handles, phones, desks, pens, clipboards, and  countertops.

How Coronavirus Impacts Your Dental Appointment: 

Before You Arrive:

  • Please let us know if you, or anyone in your household has felt ill or had any of the following symptoms within the last 14 days:

    • Fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell, or any other flu-like symptoms

  • Please let us know if you have been in direct contact with, or exposed to any COVID positive persons within the last 14 days

  • Please let us know if you have traveled outside of the US within the last month

  • We ask that you plan ahead to bring only children with appointments to the office during your visit, we are unable to accommodate any additional siblings or family members at this time.

When You Arrive:

  • We have placed hand sanitizers for our patients and families to use throughout the reception area along with public information about safe hygiene protocols and distancing rules. 

  • All patients and family members will be asked to wash their hands at our Handwashing Station upon entering the clinical area of the office. 

After You Leave:

  • All single-use items are properly disposed of; reusable instruments are packaged and autoclaved and tagged to hospital standards.

  • All soiled single-use gowns and masks are disposed of immediately; non-disposable items are properly disinfected after every patient.

  • Treatment rooms are thoroughly disinfected after each patient; common areas including the waiting room are wiped down with a hospital-grade disinfectant solution frequently.

  • The health and safety of our patients and staff remain our primary focus - please help us maintain cleanliness by alerting us to any mess that you may see.

  • Please contact our office should you become symptomatic and/or receive COVID positive test result within the 10 days following your visit.
