Periodic Check-Ups – Summer can still be a hectic schedule, but can still take the time to schedule an appointment for your kids at Sporting Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and Family Orthodontics. Children and adults should see their dentist at least twice a year for check-ups. An exam and cleaning at the dentist’s office will ensure a healthy smile. Don’t forget to ask about fluoride and sealants as these provide added protection against tooth decay.
Oral Hygiene – In addition to school supplies, don’t forget toothbrushes and toothpaste to your back-to-school supply list. It’s best to brush your teeth after every meal or at least twice a day for a minimum of two minutes each time and don’t forget to floss!
Diet – Did you know that water naturally cleanses the teeth and helps neutralize the pH in your mouth? Always check the labels of the beverages you give to your children as many of them are loaded with sugar. In addition, limit milk to meal time, juices to more than 6 ounces a day and eliminate soda.
